Elon Musk on Productivity

We all know Elon Musk to be one of the world's most powerful entrepreneurs.  His titles don't end there: investor, engineer, business magnate, and inventor all need to be recognized.

By his late twenties, Musk became a multimillionaire after selling his first startup company, Zip2.  He went on to develop Paypal and co-found SolarCity, Tesla, and SpaceX.  In January 2021 he surpassed Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to become the richest person on Earth.

Musk's vision sets him apart from other wealthy people.  He considers the evolution of humanity and sets out to create tools for where we're heading, not where we're at.

At the moment, he's actively working on solutions to reduce global warming and establish a human colony on Mars to prevent the extinction of the human race.  The drive behind his workload is summed up in one simple quote:

I don't create companies for the sake of creating companies, but to get things done.

What do you want to get done?  Anyone can develop an idea or have good intentions, but what sets successful people apart is the ability to set an intention and follow-through.

Many people start strong and fail because they lose the motivation to complete their goals.

Set Clear Goals & Strategies

The first step to accomplishing anything is setting objectives and developing a strategy. Ask yourself a few key questions:

• Why do I want to achieve my goal?  What is my purpose?  Later, you can use the answer to this question to remind yourself why you started in the first place.
• How will I accomplish my goal?  What smaller tasks must be finished first?  Breaking your larger goals down into smaller, more attainable ones will make it easier to track your progress.
• What tangible rewards or results will I get when completing my goal?  An example might be "once I finish my degree I can get a higher paying job" or "once I save x amount of dollars I can purchase a new house."

Once you have defined your goals, it's time to get things done.
